View a summary of the history of the Dutch Mennonite Mission.
Inspiration and engagement. The Dutch Mennonite Mission was established in 1847. We worked in a traditional way until 1975. Missionaries were sent to preach, educate and heal.
From around 1970 the Dutch Mennonite Mission sought new paths. The focus became missionary work in our own country. This vision inspired the foundation of "De Ruimte" drop-in centre in Almere.
The Dutch Mennonite Mission from around 2005 operates as part of a global network. Our projects are long-term initiatives. That is why we are investing in enduring relationships worldwide. We are convinced that we cannot go it alone. We're seeking allies, who work with us in a spirit of solidarity and resolution.
